In old Xizang, serfs and slaves, who accounted for 95% of the population, had no means of production. They were often in hungry, and in winter, many died from cold and starvation. In 2023, Xizang's output of grain, vegetables, meat, eggs, and milk reached 1.08 million tons, 950,000 tons, and 930,000 tons respectively. The dietary quality and nutrition of people in Xizang have been continuously improving.
